Your academic journey in Türkiye is an exciting step, but we understand that you may have many questions along the way. To help you navigate the admissions process with clarity and confidence, we have compiled a list of the most common inquiries from international students. From visa requirements and tuition fees to university placements and local life, our experts have provided detailed answers to ensure you are well-prepared. At IzmirJavan, our goal is to simplify every stage of your transition, providing the honest and strategic guidance you need to succeed. Explore the sections below to find the information you need to start your future today.

Not necessarily. Many prestigious universities offer programs entirely in English. If you choose an English-medium program but don’t have a proficiency certificate (like TOEFL), you can take the university’s placement exam. If you prefer a Turkish program, universities provide a one-year intensive Turkish language course (TÖMER) before you start your degree.

Public universities are highly competitive and usually require entrance exams like YÖS or SAT, offering very low tuition fees. Private universities, on the other hand, often provide modern facilities, global partnerships, and English-taught programs with admissions based primarily on your high school GPA, often without the need for an entrance exam.

Yes, you can. You will need a notarized translation of your diploma and transcripts, along with an Equivalence Certificate (Denklik) from the Turkish Ministry of Education. IzmirJavan specializes in managing these administrative hurdles to ensure your documents meet all legal requirements for registration.

Tuition fees for private universities typically start from $2,000 per year, depending on the program. Living expenses for students in cities like İzmir or Istanbul—including accommodation, food, and transport—average between $400 to $700 per month, making Türkiye one of the most affordable high-quality education hubs in the region.

According to Turkish law, international students enrolled in Master’s or PhD programs have the legal right to work part-time. For undergraduate students, work permits are subject to specific regulations. However, we advise students to prioritize their studies during their first year to maintain their student residency status.

YÖS is an exam designed for international students by Turkish universities (covering math and logic), while SAT is a globally recognized standardized test. While these are mandatory for most public universities, IzmirJavan has direct partnerships with top private institutions that offer admission based solely on academic merit without these exams.

Once you receive your official Acceptance Letter through us, you must apply at the nearest Turkish Consulate. The process usually takes 2 to 4 weeks. After arriving in Türkiye, we will assist you in applying for your Student Residence Permit (İkamet) to ensure your stay is fully legal.

Yes, absolutely. Türkiye is part of the Bologna Process, meaning its degrees are recognized across Europe and are compatible with the ECTS credit system. Most Turkish universities also hold global accreditations, making it easier for graduates to pursue further studies or careers in the US, UK, and beyond.

Yes. There are government-funded scholarships (Türkiye Bursları) which are highly competitive. Additionally, IzmirJavan negotiates directly with private universities to secure exclusive tuition discounts ranging from 25% to 75% for our students based on their academic performance.

Our service doesn’t end with an admission letter. We provide end-to-end support, including airport pickup, assistance with dormitory or apartment rentals, health insurance registration, and hands-on guidance during your physical enrollment at the university and residence permit appointment.
